Life is a canvas….throw all the color you can at it.

I've been taking pictures ever since I was old enough to remember. I was raised by two parents who also love photography and spend as much time as myself with a camera in their hands so I guess it's kind of "in the genes".
I remember taking pictures as a child with a 110 camera. Boy how the times have changed. I have experienced with darkroom also and though I thoroughly enjoyed that experience, in a world that's becoming more technologically advanced each day, I've chosen to go digital...in my photography and my darkroom.
When I was 19 years old, my dad gave me his old manual Minolta and I took a class with my mom on the manual use of this camera. I used it for years afterwards until the camera disappeared in a move. I didn't buy another SLR camera until a few years later and when I did, I chose to go with Nikon as that was the brand I had watched my dad use for years with nice results. I "relearned" all that I had forgotten about manual photography and shot large amounts of film with my entry level Nikon. After about three years and growing out of what I wanted to do with it, I finally purchased my current camera, a Nikon D200. I can say that though film was, and always will have a certain feel that you can't always get from digital, I am quite pleased with my current camera. The ability to learn new technique's and try new things much faster is a huge advantage to shooting digital.
I spend my time on the coast of North Carolina and participate in as many types of photography that I can. I enjoy landscape photography the most but participate in widely varying subject matter. I enjoy wildlife photography and also close up and macro photography. I also enjoy event photography such as birthday parties, anniversaries, engagement celebrations, family reunions, sporting events and team photos. These occasions allow me to capture the natural candid shots that are always evident at these kinds of functions. You can’t beat a child’s dip into his/her first birthday cake, or a family pet licking the barbecue sauce right off of your face, or a gentle elderly couple stealing a kiss at their 50th wedding anniversary. I also enjoy bridal portraiture. The ability to beautifully capture a woman in a dress that she chose for one of the biggest occasions in her life is a gift and to be able to provide those memories that will last a lifetime, in my opinion, is one of the most satisfying experiences a photographer can have.
I am an avid Photoshop user and thoroughly enjoy being able to use it as a tool to complete what I capture in camera and then see the final result in print.
